Faruk Desai, MBE - Chief Executive Faruk Desai

 

Faruk has a substantial wealth of knowledge and expertise in Race Equality and Diversity and has been active in this field for over 20 years. Throughout these years he has been involved with numerous statutory, voluntary and community groups at a local, regional and national level.

Nafysa Patel, BA (Hons), MA - Race Hate Officer nafysa patel

 

Nafysa has been managing and specialising in delivering a casework service for victims of racism across Preston and Western Lancashire for over 4 years. She works in conjunction with key agencies to increase levels of reporting and to provide a co-ordinated response to all aspects of racism.

Danielle Sheldon, BA (Hons) - Assistant Race Hate Officer danielle sheldon

 

Danielle works alongside Nafysa to develop a dynamic project - RHAP which flags up Race Hate Awareness and Prevention. Danielle has effectively already dealt with a number of victims whilst generating partnerships with crucial community organisations. She hopes to assist Nafysa in raising the profile of the Racial Equality Council.

Christine Reed BA (Hons) Dip Sol - Discrimination Solicitor christine reed

 

Christine provides FREE legal advice, assistance and representation for victims of discrimination across all equality strands  - Age, Disability, Race, Religion/Belief, Sex and Sexual Orientation - in the field of employment and access to goods and services.

Bhikhu Patel – Racial Equality Officer Bhikhu Patel

 

Bhikhu works with public authorities to assist in developing equality and diversity strategies and in particular to draw up and implement Race Equality Schemes. Bhikhu also assists individuals who may feel that appropriate services were not provided to them due to their ethnicity.

Rebecca Gardner – Administration Officer rebecca gardner

 

Rebecca has worked for Preston & Western Lancashire Racial Equality Council for over 15 years.  Rebecca began working at the REC as a Secretary to the Chief Executive and is now an Administration Officer providing administrative support to projects and officers within the REC.

Bernadette Stephenson - Administration Officer Bernadette Stephenson

 

Bernadette has worked for the REC since 2002.  She deals with general enquiries and any appointments. Bernadette is also in charge of the Unity Community Centre.
